Out With the Old; In With the New

As 2011 draws to a close today, I wanted to take a moment to share some of my thoughts about the past year with you... and give you a chance to share yours.

January 1st marked the beginning of Bernie's tenure as President of Fresh Coat, one we hope will last many years to come. Under his watchful eye, the company grew like never before, opening 40 new Franchises in 2011, despite the stalled national economy and a second recession.

This year also saw the Fresh Coat team grow as we added Amanda Hood as another Operations Manager and saw Greg Platz promoted to Senior Operations Manager (recognition that was well deserved and long overdue).

This was also the year that we took Fresh Coat to the Cloud; first with Windows Live and then with Dropbox.  2012 will see increasing use of the Internet for communication and reporting, as well as some long awaited changes to our software.

2011 witnessed our second National Conference in Las Vegas, and the formation of the President's Council; a group of Franchisees hand selected by Bernie to act as the voice of the owners. Their first meeting will be held in late January, 2012 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

I'm sure there are plenty of things I've forgotten to mention; not that they aren't equally important. It's just that 2011 has been so eventful, it's hard to get everything down. The great news is that 2012 is going to be even better.

So, to all of you in our Fresh Coat family, from all of us here in Cincinnati, Have a safe and happy New Year!

Merry Christmas

I wanted to take a moment out of my busy holiday morning to step into my Fresh Coat shoes. Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt Best Wishes for a Joyous Holiday. We celebrate Christmas in my house, but regardless of what you celebrate (or choose not to), I wanted to wish you well.

I normally wouldn't quote the BIble, but since the quote is actually from Linus Van Pelt, Charlie Brown's best friend, I think it's all right. When Charlie Brown asks about what Christmas is about Linus has somehting to say about it. But I feel it's what he says at the very end that says it all.

"...'And on earth, peace, goodwill toward men.'"

Peace and goodwill toward you, my friends. Enjoy your families and friends, and keep the spirit of the season in your hearts year round. Merry Christmas... Everyone...

A Real Life Christmas Story - Military Style

When Amber Pearson sought a price break on painting at her home, she received much more than she expected. Alan Dorothy, owner of Fresh Coat Painters of San Antonio, decided she and her husband, an Iraq War veteran, deserved a whole house makeover. In just three days, his team painted all the walls, ceilings and trims of their three-bedroom, two-bath home -- all at no charge to the Pearsons.

To find out more about how Alan brought Christmas a little early to the Pearson's, read the whole story on Yahoo! News.

Another Fresh Coat for Columbus

With the purchase of their Fresh Coat Painters franchise, Dee and Herman Moultrie have expanded their entrepreneurial endeavors in Ohio to serve communities east of Columbus. For Dee, research indicated an untapped market. “Our prices are comparable, but we’re more professional,” she said. “What I found was that there were painters who would not even come out unless they were guaranteed a minimum price. We don’t put those kinds of limitations on clients.”

Painting Grand Rapids, one Fresh Coat at a Time...

Troy and Dorothy Tissue have opened their Fresh Coat Painters franchise to serve Grand Rapids and its surrounding western Michigan communities. With their military background, they saw their new business as an opportunity to continue serving their neighbors and improving their lives. “We enjoy working with people to help them decide what they want to do and to give their home a new look," Troy said. "It’s that ‘Painting Done Right’ motto that is the operational difference, and clients understand the value of getting a lasting product they’re very happy to see long-term.”

After 23 years as a mortgage broker serving the Twin Cities, Jerry Fancher has launched his Fresh Coat Painters franchise as a way to continue contributing to the long-term strength of his community. “People are not going to do a major renovation right now,” he said. “But they will spend money to improve the look of their property – to make it an attractive, comfortable place for themselves.”
