After more than a decade in pharmaceutical sales, Christy Cooper sought a business opportunity that better suited her creative spirit and her busy lifestyle as a minister’s wife and mother of four. Launching Fresh Coat Painters of Richmond, Va., filled the prescription for her.
“The health care industry has changed dramatically in the last 10 years,” she said. “I was ready to make a change, and after finishing my MBA, I decided to pursue my goal of having my own painting business. Fresh Coat seemed like a good fit between my desire for structure combined with creativity.” Before selecting Fresh Coat, she explored dozens of other franchises.
“I wanted a franchise because I wanted to avoid all the things that can go wrong when you start a business,” she said. “I wanted a proven business model. At the same time, I wanted something I liked, enjoyed and wanted to do day in and day out. When I thought about the painting industry, everything fell into place.”
